Decision. Sleep on the Troisgros estate: Le Bois Dormant — Relais & Châteaux, 15 rooms, from €300/night [1]. Same estate at half the price: Le Pré Cheval, three gîtes run by sibling Marion (€220–320) [2]. Cheapest real walks: Domaine Bérenguer or Domaine d’Aromm, €125–165 with breakfast [3][4]. Or treat dinner as a shuttled trip from another Michelin★ B&B: Château d’Origny (free return ride to Troisgros) [5].
The five candidates
Distances are from each property’s address to 728 Route de Villerest, Ouches (Maison Troisgros) [6]. All five sit inside the commune of Ouches — “walking distance” is real, but rural-road real. See Getting home after dinner below before you book on price alone.
| Property | Walk to Troisgros | Rooms | Double / night | Breakfast | Notes |

Le Bois Dormant — the obvious answer
The Troisgros family’s own 5★ hotel sits on the same 17-hectare estate as the restaurant. 12 rooms in the Grande Maison, 3 in the converted Maison des Kakis wine press [1]. Rooms from €300/night without breakfast (€40 pp), with the average double-with-breakfast around €510 [1][7]. #1 of 1 hotels in Ouches on TripAdvisor at 4.6/5 across 375 reviews, Travellers’ Choice [8]. Annual closure Dec 22 2025 – Jan 14 2026 [6]. A multi-hour 3★ dinner ends late and Ouches isn’t lit — staying on-site removes the only logistics problem this trip has.
Le Pré Cheval — sibling Marion’s farm
Marion Troisgros — elder sister to César and Léo — runs three gîtes on the family farm next door, a few minutes’ walk from the restaurant [9]. Petit Pied-à-terre €220 (sleeps 2), Grand Pied-à-terre €320 (+2 children at €35 each), Petit Pied-à-terre familial €220 (+2 children) [2]. Self-service check-in from 16:30, breakfast basket from Troisgros €25 pp on reservation [2]. Total capacity 17 across the property — doubles as a “rent the whole farm” option for a group; closed Mondays and Tuesdays [10]. Le Pré Cheval and Maison Troisgros are formally separate businesses despite the family link [9].
Château d’Origny — Michelin-starred B&B, ⚠ shuttle not stroll
760 m from Troisgros on the route de Roanne side of the village. Five 40 m²+ suites in a 16th-century château, with a hammam/jacuzzi in the Colonial suite [5]. The complication: Château d’Origny runs its own Michelin-starred restaurant under chef Julien Laval (★ since 2023, 22-seat room) [11], so it competes for the dinner slot. If you’re using it as base camp for Troisgros, the château offers free return transport to La Maison Troisgros — the only purpose-built “we’ll drive you home” service among non-Troisgros properties [5]. TripAdvisor: 4/5 across 131 reviews, #1 of 2 B&Bs in Ouches, observed rate ~€187/night [12].
Domaine d’Aromm — country B&B
420 Chemin de la Vésinière. Five rooms scaling from 2-pax classics up to a 7-pax Grande Suite, €125–165, breakfast included and served in a veranda over the pond [4]. 27 ha working equestrian estate with heated pool, two ponds, and paddocks [13]. Owners pitch “less than 15 min on foot” through Roannaise nature to Troisgros — fine for the daytime check-in walk, less obviously fine at 23:00 [4]. The mid-week étape package (€155 pp dîner + room + breakfast) keeps you on-site for dinner; it’s not a Troisgros night.
Domaine Bérenguer — Gîtes de France pick
3 rooms (160×200 beds throughout), €130 double / €125 single, breakfast included [3]. 1 km from Troisgros across a 2-hectare park with private pool, tennis court, and a 200-year-old sequoia. Owner Carmelle Pezzani, Gîtes de France-certified since 2021. Cleanest budget choice if you have a car for the dinner run.
Getting home after dinner
The single non-obvious factor that decides between the top two and the rest:
- No local taxi rank, limited Uber. TripAdvisor guests report pre-arranging taxis for departure; the hotel itself recommends booking transport early [8].
- Walking back is rural-road walking. Route de Villerest and Route de Roanne have no sidewalks for the 0.7–1 km between the village and the Troisgros estate — bring a torch and a high-vis layer if you do it at night.
- Château d’Origny’s free shuttle is the only built-in “we drive you home” service among non-Troisgros lodgings [5].
- A car works, but a tasting menu with wine pairings is a poor pairing with a designated-driver plan.
How to pick
- Full experience, money no object → Le Bois Dormant.
- Same estate, half the price, a family or a group → Le Pré Cheval.
- You want a non-Troisgros bed and a guaranteed ride home → Château d’Origny.
- Price-sensitive with a car, willing to handle transport yourself → Domaine d’Aromm or Domaine Bérenguer.
