TL;DR.
Walk back from dinner → Le Bois Dormant, the Troisgros estate's own 5★ Relais & Châteaux hotel, on the same 17-hectare grounds as the restaurant[2].
Want a 16th-century château instead → Château d'Origny, 5 suites + its own Michelin-starred restaurant, ~5 min by taxi from Troisgros — both addresses are in Ouches[5].
Want something stranger and cheaper → Les Cabanes du Grand Nord (Finnish kotas, private jacuzzi, ~25 min taxi)[13] or Domaine des Grands Cèdres (treehouses with spa, ~20 min)[15].
The catchment
Troisgros sits at 728 route de Villerest, 42155 Ouches — 10 minutes from Roanne train station, 1h30 from Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport[1]. The restaurant lists two partner taxis (Dufourt and Christian) and recommends booking by phone alongside your reservation[1]. Roanne → Ouches is 7.4 km, €17–21, ~8 min by cab[16]; everything below sits within ~25 min of the restaurant.
The picks
Le Bois Dormant (Hôtel Troisgros) on-site
15 rooms on the Troisgros estate itself — 12 in the Grande Maison designed by Marie-Pierre Troisgros, 3 in the converted Maison des Kakis (former wine press) that combine into an apartment[3]. Heated outdoor pool, Nordic bath, library, blown-glass-walled lounges, 17-hectare estate with meadows and forest[2]. Architecture "embraces styles and eras" around a centuries-old oak[2]. Relais & Châteaux member continuously since 1966[4]. The walk-home option after dinner — and the one place where the cooking and the bedroom share a postcode.
Château d'Origny château
16th-century château built by Jean Dongui, a wealthy potter from Roanne; revived in 2007 after stints as residence, literary haunt and retirement home[5]. Five named suites overlooking the park — Colonial, Française, English, Comtesse, Marquis de Luzy; the Colonial includes bathtub, hammam and jacuzzi[6]. Holds its own Michelin star since 2023 under chef Julien Laval (menus from €89)[5], so a second gourmet night doesn't need a car. 8 minutes from Roanne; same village as Troisgros[5].
Domaine d'Aromm contemporary
Contemporary residence on 27 hectares with two ponds, meadows, a heated pool and on-site equestrian boarding — you can bring your own horse[7]. Five rooms ranging from a 2-person room to a Grande Suite that sleeps 6–7, decorated "with quality bedding and good taste"[8]. Quietest of the Ouches options, and the cheapest with real character — pick this if you want space and silence over heritage.
Château de Champlong resort
16th-century château with 12 contemporary rooms (17–36 m²), each named and tonally tuned to a different spice — Saffron, Star Anise, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Paprika and on[10]. 68-hectare estate with 18-hole golf course, the David Grand Spa, gallery, and a Gault&Millau restaurant by Olivier Boizet[12]. Closed Sunday and Monday evenings[10] — fine for a Saturday-dinner trip if you also stay Friday. The pick if the trip is for two couples and one of them golfs.
Les Cabanes du Grand Nord insolite
Three Finnish kotas — Canada, Laponie, Alaska — in wooded grounds 15 min from Roanne[14]. Canada and Alaska have private outdoor jacuzzis under cover; Laponie (21 m²) offers an optional barrel sauna[13]. Breakfast basket left at the door each morning[13]. The "we just ate at a 3-star, now let's sleep in a Nordic cocoon" pick — and the cheapest character option that still feels intentional rather than makeshift.
Domaine des Grands Cèdres treehouse
Treehouses perched in the forest on the heights above Cordelle, "a few minutes" from Roanne[15]. Four named cabins: L'Échauguette (€185), Spa L'Escapade (€250), Spa L'Aventure (€260), Sauna & Spa La Belle Étoile (€297). Each has queen bed, kitchenette, bathroom, private terrace; the upper three include a private hot tub on the deck, and La Belle Étoile adds a sauna[15]. Breakfast basket included; heated pool on-site[15]. The pricier sibling to Grand Nord, with elevation.

Logistics
- Coming in. Roanne TGV is the natural arrival point (Paris Gare de Lyon → Roanne ~3h30; Lyon Saint-Exupéry → Troisgros ~1h30 by car)[1]. A pre-booked private transfer from LYS to Troisgros runs around €315[18].
- Local taxis. Troisgros's listed partners: Taxi Dufourt (06 09 37 17 65) and Taxi Christian (06 09 43 36 62)[1]. Book the return with dinner — the restaurant is rural and ride-hail is unreliable.
- Roanne ↔ Ouches. 7.4 km, €17–21, ~8 min[16] — useful if you sleep in town for the cheaper hotel inventory and only taxi for dinner.
- Driving yourself. All six properties have private parking. If you're tasting Côte Roannaise reds during the day, designate or skip the wheel.
