Decision: For a tech-aligned San Diego weekend, the densest clusters are late May–early June (FiRe + DevOpsCon/MLcon overlap) and mid-September (VSLive, Gartner Procurement, and DDX all in the same week). The October window offers the invite-only Offensive AI Con in nearby Oceanside. Year-round, monthly meetups run regardless of conference season.

Trip-Planning Clusters

Late May – early June (May 31–Jun 5): The most concentrated window. FiRe closes at Qualcomm/UCSD on June 3 while DevOpsCon and MLcon open at Hyatt Regency La Jolla on June 1 — five overlapping days covering AI strategy, ML engineering, and DevOps. The SDIC Showcase on June 10 extends the run [5].

Mid-September (Sep 14–17): VSLive, Gartner Procurement, and DDX all land in the same week. Different audiences (Microsoft devs / procurement execs / UX designers) but good for mixing sessions across disciplines without changing hotels.

October in Oceanside: Offensive AI Con is in north San Diego County (40 min drive), not downtown. If accepted, it’s self-contained (hotel included in ticket). Pairs well with a downtown dinner weekend before or after [9].
