TL;DR El Puerto de Santa María has no dedicated IT conference of its own, but it is home to CEEI Bahía de Cádiz — an EU Business Innovation Centre that runs local innovation jornadas — and in June 2026 it hosts a Smart Territory tech event. For proper tech conferences, Seville (80 km, ~1 hr) is the nearest hub: CTx Tech Experience and 5G Forum both ran there in 2026. [2] [6] [8]
In El Puerto de Santa María
Gestión de Territorios Inteligentes — June 11, 2026
The most tech-forward event ever hosted in El Puerto: a full-day conference at Palacio Juan de Araníbar on smart city strategy, data governance, and municipal digitisation. [1] Organised by APYTERMI (Asociación de Profesionales para los Retos del Tercer Milenio) and Fundación Territorio Inteligente, with backing from the local council. At the event, El Puerto receives Spain’s inaugural Distintivo Territorio Inteligente — recognising achievements in sustainability, quality certifications, collaborative governance, and deployed tech tools. [1]
Audience: municipal technicians, institutional representatives, and companies working on public-sector digital transformation.
CEEI Bahía de Cádiz — ongoing jornadas
| CEEI Bahía de Cádiz is the city’s anchor tech institution — an EU Business Innovation Centre (EU | BIC) founded 1997 with campuses in El Puerto, Cádiz, San Fernando, and Rota. [2] It runs ad-hoc jornadas at its El Puerto campus (C/ Delta 1, Polígono Las Salinas) on topics ranging from industrial law to AI in aquaculture. [4] The June 11, 2026 programme includes an Introduction to AI Tools in Aquaculture slot (3–4 pm). [2] Annual highlight: the Premio Emprendedor Local award ceremony judging startups on innovation, tech level, job creation, and sustainability. [3] |

Municipal Entrepreneurship Training — year-round
The council’s Employment department runs a free recurring programme [11] at the Municipal Business Centre (C/ Delta 1). Modules include digital marketing, social media strategy, and business launch practice. Sessions run Tues/Thurs 17:00–20:00. Not a conference — more a hands-on course for aspiring founders.
Venues available for events
El Puerto has three publicly usable congress spaces and several private hotel venues. [5]
| Venue | Capacity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Auditorio San Miguel | 300 | Former convent; central |
| Hotel Monasterio (Capitular) | 260 | Historic cloister setting |
| Hotel Yacht Club (Colón) | 450 | Marina location |
| Bodega Alameda / El Cortijo | 1,000 | Private; wine-bodega setting |
No dedicated convention centre. Larger events typically go to Jerez or Cádiz.
Bay of Cádiz region
Cádiz WordPress Meetup — Cádiz & Jerez
Active community (180 members, ⭐ 4.9) with regular meetups in Cádiz city and Jerez (~20 km from El Puerto). [9] Topics span cybersecurity, development, and networking socials (“Cañas & NetWordPress”). Best local touchpoint for developers living in the Bay area.
CADIZ.RED — October, Jerez de la Frontera
Annual entrepreneurship and collaboration summit at the Universidad de Cádiz Jerez campus (Avda. de la Universidad s/n). [10] First edition (2023) drew 300+ registrants from public bodies, businesses, and startups across the province. Focus is entrepreneurship and regional economic development, not deep tech — but good for networking with the local ecosystem. Funded by Diputación Provincial de Cádiz.
Seville — 80 km, ~1 hour
The nearest city with a real tech conference circuit. Both major 2026 events are at Sevilla TechPark.
| Event | Dates | Focus | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| CTx Tech Experience | Mar 19–20, 2026 | AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity, startups | 400 speakers, 1,000+ startups [6] [7] |
| 5G Forum | May 12–15, 2026 | 5G/6G, IoT, edge computing, AI, smart cities | 85 speakers, 80+ orgs, hybrid [8] |
CTx Tech Experience (inaugural 2026 edition) is the region’s broadest tech gathering — startups, corporates, VCs, and public sector. Microsoft, Salesforce, and Uber were among participants. [6]
5G Forum (9th edition) is more specialised: telecom operators (Orange, Telefónica, Vodafone, Digi), plus public sector and enterprise, dissecting 5G deployment, 6G roadmaps, IoT, and satellite connectivity. Virtual days included. [8]
Travel: El Puerto → Seville by car is ~80 km on the A-4; by train (Renfe MD) roughly 1 h 15 min from El Puerto de Santa María station.
Bottom line
El Puerto is not on any tech-conference circuit. The local tech infrastructure is anchored by CEEI Bahía de Cádiz’s campus and the Smart Territory initiative; meaningful IT events happen in Seville (day-trip viable) or Jerez/Cádiz. If you are visiting El Puerto and want to combine a tech event with the trip, the June 11, 2026 Smart Territory jornada at Palacio Juan de Araníbar is the only on-site option right now. [1]
