TL;DR. La Rei Natura sits at Il Boscareto (Via Roddino 21, Serralunga d'Alba)[1], the 2026 Michelin Guide's only new 3-star promotion[2]. For maximum character without sleeping at the resort itself: Castello di Sinio if you want a restored 12th-century castle with an innkeeper-chef[8]; Cascina Galarej for a 10-room 1867 farmhouse on the Fontanafredda estate with Victor-Emmanuel-II relics in the rooms[5]; Palás Cerequio for a 9-suite Barolo-cru temple owned by the Michele Chiarlo winery[15]. Castello di Guarene (Relais & Châteaux, 22 min) is the outer-edge "wow" option[17].

What "taxi range" means here

Distances are measured from Il Boscareto in Serralunga d'Alba. Public buses on the Langhe ridges effectively stop after dinner, so plan on a pre-booked car. Local operators that cover all properties below: LangheInTaxi / NCC Bellero (+39 335 5862890, 06:00–23:00)[22] and Taxi Barolo / private NCC[23]. As a fare anchor, Barolo→Alba taxi (14.6 km) runs €18–23[21]; a Serralunga short-hop to a neighbouring village is typically €15–25 one-way.

Castello di Guarene ⚠ outer edge

Guarene · 15 rooms · ~22 min taxi

Fifteen individually furnished rooms with period furniture, wall frescoes, antique Chinese tapestries, marble bathrooms; spa and indoor pool literally carved into the rock[17]. The grandest "wow" option — at 20 km it's the outer edge of taxi range, but on a clear evening the view back across the Roero from the terrace is the trade.

Booking notes

  • Saturday-dinner timing. La Rei Natura is the only restaurant promoted to 3 Michelin stars in the 2026 guide[2] — both the restaurant and the in-cluster hotels will tighten through 2026. Book lodging the moment the table is confirmed.
  • Truffle season (Oct–Dec). All nine properties price-jump and sell out around the Alba Truffle Fair — assume +30–60% and 2-night minimums.
  • Taxi: pre-book both directions. LangheInTaxi / NCC Bellero operates 06:00–23:00[22]; a tasting menu ending after 23:00 means the return ride must be arranged in advance via Taxi Barolo or via Il Boscareto's concierge[23].
  • Walking option. Tota Virginia (~1.5 km from Il Boscareto) and the Villaggio Narrante cluster (~2–3 km) are technically walkable in daylight on the via Roddino back roads — at night, take the car.
