IT conferences and tech events within 30 km of Cenador de Amós

Slim but real tech scene in a 30 km radius — ACEDE 2026 (AI/business) and TAEE 2026 (electronics) anchor the calendar, with Caña Digital talks, C3 cybersecurity training and C-Meet in autumn filling in around them.

TL;DR. A 30 km circle around Cenador de Amós is essentially Santander’s metro area [1], and the IT-conference scene there is thin but not empty. The two anchors for 2026 are ACEDE (14–16 Jun, AI-in-business academic congress at the University of Cantabria) [3] and TAEE (1–3 Jul, electronics-teaching conference at ETSIIT-UC) [4]. Outside those, expect smaller fare: the Caña Digital monthly tech-talk series (free, evenings, runs to 17 Dec) [5], CTFs and free training at the C3 cybersecurity centre in PCTCAN [7][8], and C-Meet at Escenario Santander (5th edition expected autumn, 2026 dates not yet posted; the 2025 edition ran 2–3 Oct with 500+ companies) [6]. If your trip date is fixed by the dinner, pair it with whichever event lines up — the calendar is sparse enough that any match is opportunistic, not abundant.

The 30 km circle, in practical terms

Cenador de Amós sits in Villaverde de Pontones (Ribamontán al Monte), ~10.6 km in a straight line and ~23 km by road from central Santander [1][2]. A 30 km radius therefore covers:

  • All of Santander city, including PCTCAN (the science-tech park) [13], the University of Cantabria campuses (Las Llamas, Avda. Castros, ETSIIT) and Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos in El Sardinero.
  • The bay-side ring: Astillero, Camargo, Maliaño (Parayas airport).
  • East along the A-8 to Solares and Liérganes.
  • North-east to Santoña / Laredo (around the edge of the radius).

Nothing in Torrelavega, Reinosa or Bilbao falls inside the circle.

Picking one for your trip

  • Saturday-dinner anchor + tech for Friday or Sunday. TAEE 2026 ends Friday 3 July [4] and ACEDE 2026 opens Sunday 14 June [3] — both bookend a Saturday at Cenador de Amós cleanly. Stay at a Santander hotel, drive ~20 min for dinner.
  • Casual evening tech-fix. The Caña Digital talks at Cervezas Smach are 18:30–20:00 free entry with networking [5] — pair a Thursday session with a Saturday-dinner weekend.
  • Hands-on security. C3 runs free training at Torre Xtela (PCTCAN) and a monthly Capture-The-Flag competition [7][8] — check the calendar before booking, dates rotate.
  • Bigger Cantabrian tech crowd. C-Meet is the only event in the region that draws 500+ companies and tier-1 vendor keynotes [6]; the autumn slot historically hits early October, so a late-Sept / early-Oct dinner could line up if the 5th edition is announced soon.
  • Local dev community. GDG Santander runs Google-tech meetups (Flutter, Android, web) but the calendar is sparse — only one upcoming event listed at time of writing [9].

What’s not here

  • No FOSDEM/KubeCon/PyData-scale event lands within 30 km of Cenador de Amós in 2026. The big Spanish IT crowd-pullers (Spring I/O, South Summit, DES) are in Barcelona, Madrid and Málaga respectively.
  • Past listings on the Cantabria PINN agenda for May 2026 (CantabRobots + Math at Palacio de Exposiciones, 14 May, 1,500+ schoolkids) [11] and the CERN International Quantum Computer Master Class at Facultad de Ciencias UC on 14 April [10] are already past relative to today (30 May 2026) but signal what re-runs annually.
  • IC2 (construction-innovation, 1 June at Palacio de la Magdalena) is a borderline-tech sector event noted on the PINN agenda but skewed to AEC industry rather than software/IT [12].

Ecosystem context (why the calendar is sparse)

Cantabria’s tech ecosystem is real but small. It is organised around three nodes inside the 30 km radius: the Clúster TERA ICT industry association (co-organiser of Caña Digital and of the Green Valley Cantabria Tech branding) [14], the PCTCAN science-tech park hosting 82 companies and ~4,800 employees including the C3 cybersecurity centre [13][8], and CISE for entrepreneurship programming [15]. When new conferences are announced, they almost always land at the University of Cantabria, Palacio de Exposiciones, or Escenario Santander — bookmark those three plus the PINN agenda for last-minute additions [12].
