A weekend in Hamburg, anchored on a Michelin dinner

Three angles — things to do, the four 2★/3★ restaurants, and the 2026 tech calendar — collapsed into a date-first weekend plan with a sharp recommendation: Jun 26–27, Haerlin on Saturday, ferry 62 on Sunday.

Three angles converge on a single date math: when does your weekend actually land?

The Michelin layer narrows it. Hamburg has exactly four restaurants at 2★ or above in the active 2025 guide [1] — and one of them, Haerlin, is dark 19 Jul–16 Aug 2026 and 18–26 Oct 2026 [2]. The Table Kevin Fehling opens its 20-seat counter ~3 months ahead and sells out the same day [3], so a weekend chosen <10 weeks before today is effectively a Haerlin / Lakeside / 100·200 weekend. The fifth 2★, bianc, closed permanently on 31 Dec 2025 — older overviews still list it; don’t book it [4].

The tech-event layer adds two anchor weekends in 2026. Jun 26–27 stacks ITCS Hamburg (Fri, free, festival format with a 16:00 after-party) [5], Product at Heart (Fri, Kampnagel) [6], and CollabDays Hamburg (Sat, free) [7] back-to-back — Saturday afternoon ends in time for an evening dinner. Sep 16–19 is Reeperbahn Festival across ~70 St. Pauli venues with a music-tech B2B conference attached [8] — broader, louder, and the only weekend where the nightlife layer (Molotow, Mojo, Große Freiheit 36 [9]) becomes the whole point. DevFest Hamburg (Oct 16–17) is the pure-developer alternative [10].

The geometry is friendlier than it looks. Three of the four Michelin rooms sit on or next to the HafenCity / Binnenalster axis: The Table on Shanghaiallee in HafenCity [11], Haerlin in the Fairmont on Neuer Jungfernstieg [12], 100/200 in a 1926 warehouse in Rothenburgsort [13] — all walkable from the Elbphilharmonie Plaza and the Speicherstadt UNESCO ring [14]. The same HafenCity neighborhood holds KINOPOLIS, code.talks’ Nov 4–5 venue [15]. Lakeside is the outlier — 7th-floor Außenalster panorama [16], which is the same lake as the 7.4 km Outer Alster Sunday-morning loop [17]. Picking Lakeside puts your dinner and your Sunday walk on one body of water.

Two more watch-outs before you commit: the Deichtorhallen contemporary hall is closed until 5 Jun 2026 [18], and the 837th Hafengeburtstag harbour birthday already ran 8–10 May 2026 [19] — late-May trips get Planten un Blomen’s free 10pm water-light show instead [20].

Sharpest recommendation. Target Jun 26–27. Anchor Saturday on Haerlin (Binnenalster window, smart casual, easier to book than The Table, comfortably outside the summer closure [2]). Use Friday for ITCS or Product at Heart. Sunday morning: HADAG ferry line 62 from Landungsbrücken on an HVV day ticket — Hamburg’s official “ride this, not the paid cruises” pick [21] — ending at Brücke 10 for fischbrötchen [22] before the train home.

Open question. If a vegetarian is at the table, the calculus inverts: 100/200’s “Die Saison” rotation runs fully vegetarian [23] and reframes the whole weekend around Rothenburgsort and the gallery-level Glorie carte, with the Alster walk demoted in favour of the Övelgönne–Teufelsbrück Elbe-beach stroll [24].
