Decision — If you can secure a table at El Celler de Can Roca (3★, Girona city, book the 1st of the month for a date 11 months out), do it: it is Spain's only 3-star and rated 99/100 by La Liste in 2026.[3] If El Celler is full, three 2-star alternatives are within 50 minutes: Bo.TiC (closest, creative Catalan in a historic carpentry), Les Cols (volcanic terroir + Pritzker Prize architecture), or Miramar (seafront, sleepable, Mediterranean sea-cooking).

📍 Ctra de la Canya S/N, 17800 Olot (La Garrotxa) 📞 +34 972 269 209

Chef Fina Puigdevall and her daughter Martina Puigvert have shaped this restaurant for over 30 years.[12] The philosophy: seasonal produce from the volcanic Garrotxa landscape — buckwheat, local potatoes, freshwater fish, farm eggs — described as "austere and humble but intuitive and authentic."[9]

The restaurant occupies a converted 13th-century farmhouse, expanded by RCR Arquitectes (2017 Pritzker Prize, based in Olot) with signature glass pavilions: 3 m-tall, 30 cm-thick glass slabs forming zigzagging vegetal corridors and a sky-framing overnight wing of 5 rooms.[10] The space is considered among the world's most architecturally distinctive dining rooms.

Holds a Michelin Green Star for sustainability alongside its two gastronomy stars.[1]

Price: €180 single tasting menu (VAT incl.) · wine pairing +€65 · cheese course +€25.[9]

Founded in 1939 on the seafront promenade of Llançà (Alt Empordà). Chef Paco Pérez centres his cuisine on the Mar d'Amunt — the local stretch of Mediterranean — with avant-garde techniques applied to hyperlocal seafood, seaweed, and Empordà produce.[16]

Two tasting menus: MAR (a marine journey through local and Galician waters) and Memory, Territory & Culture (a shorter Empordà-focused selection).[7] À la carte also available (individual dishes €40–€120).[8]

Stay the night: 5 seafront suites allow a full evening without the drive back — the only 2-star in the province with overnight accommodation.[7] Girona is also reachable by train (~55 min, hourly).[13]
