Casa Perbellini – 12 Apostoli
The venue dates to an 18th-century inn where twelve merchants from Piazza delle Erbe convened—hence "12 Apostoli." The Gioco family ran it as a haute-cuisine landmark for 102 years, hosting Hemingway and D'Annunzio, before Perbellini took over in 2023 after four decades away.[1] In the 2026 Michelin Guide, it was awarded a third star—the only 3-star table in Verona.[2] Other distinctions: Les Grandes Tables du Monde, Le Soste, 50 Best Discovery.[1]
Three dining rooms designed by architect Patricia Urquiola: the Sala del Vòlto, the frescoed Sala degli Affreschi above Roman and medieval cellars, and the Chef's Table—five intimate tables set inside the open kitchen.[1] TripAdvisor reviewers (4.5 / 5 from 1,951 reviews) describe service as "attentive but never intrusive" and praise "creative, technically precise cuisine."[3]

Famiglia Rana
Set within the Rana pasta family's estate on the Feniletto organic farm — gardens, orchards, and free-ranging poultry supply the kitchen at zero-kilometre distance.[6] Chef Sodano, formerly head chef at Faro di Capo d'Orso on the Sorrento coast and a student of Oliver Glowig and Antony Genovese, was appointed by Gian Luca Rana in February 2024.[11] He earned a first Michelin star, then a second in the 2026 Guide — just 16 months into his tenure.[7]
An 80 m² research laboratory adjoins the kitchen, equipped with ultrasonic machines, Gastrovac sous-vide chambers, and controlled-temperature drying systems — technology that underpins the experimental menus.[6] The wine cellar holds 1,800+ labels with depth in Veneto and natural-wine producers.[6] TripAdvisor reviewers (4.7 / 5 from 135 reviews) praise the intimate setting — roughly 6 tables — with garden views and "discreet, professional" service.[8]

Verona's Michelin Landscape
The province holds one 3-star, one 2-star, and six 1-star restaurants in the 2026 Guide.[13] Veneto overall ranks fifth nationally with 34 starred restaurants (2 three-stars, 4 two-stars, 28 one-stars).[14] Within Verona city itself, 1-star options include Il Desco and Iris Ristorante for those wanting starred dining at lower price points.[13]
Practical Tips
- Book early — Casa Perbellini. Italy's newly minted 3-star will be heavily sought in 2026. Reserve 4–8 weeks ahead, more for peak summer weekends. Online: Plateform; groups 4+ email info@casaperbellini.com.[5]
- Getting to Famiglia Rana. No public bus. A round-trip taxi from Verona centre costs roughly €40–50 and takes ~20 min each way.[8]
- Best value. Famiglia Rana's Fri–Sun lunch (from €70 for 4 courses) is the best-priced 2-star meal in the province.[8]
- Do both on a weekend. Fri dinner at Famiglia Rana (Wed–Sat) → Sat lunch at Casa Perbellini (Tue–Sat) works cleanly, or reverse with Tue–Fri dinner at Casa Perbellini.
- Wine note. Both restaurants carry premium wine lists with reported steep markups; reviewers at both spots flagged this.[3][8]
