Production Notes

  • BOOKING CRITICAL: Au Jardin reservations open 3 months ahead — book the day slots release. Deposit required. Dietary needs: 72h notice. Hay-aged duck pre-order: ≥2 days.
  • PARTY SIZE MATTERS: Auntie Gaik Lean's walk-in is ≤3 pax only. 4+ needs RM200 deposit + 1–2 weeks lead — collapses the booking urgency gap between the two restaurants.
  • JUNE WEATHER: Highs 31.6°C, lows 25.5°C, rain ~21.7 days/month. Expect afternoon showers, not all-day washouts. Dry-season peak is Dec–Mar. Off-peak = cheaper rooms, lighter queues.
  • PENANG HISTORY MUSEUM: New March 2025 opening on Bishop Street — RM3m holograms & AI. Easy to fold into the Saturday morning walk.
  • TRANSPORT: Free CAT shuttle (06:00–23:45, every 10–15 min) covers the heritage core loop. Grab island-wide is cheap: George Town → Batu Ferringhi ~RM14, → National Park ~RM25.
  • BUTTERWORTH FERRY: Historic ferries retired. New cashless water-bus vessels run every 20–30 min, 06:30–23:30. RM2 adult. Card only.
  • JULY BOLT-ON: PDX2026 (Jul 15–16, ~10k delegates) + EMAX/SMAX semiconductor cluster (Jul 22–24) at Setia SPICE. Natural frame for work-extends-to-weekend. June visit skips all of that.
  • TWO MUSTS: Book the Michelin seat the day reservations open. Stay inside the UNESCO core. Everything else flexes.
