SundayDay trip
Friday
Arrive, orient, leave the day-trips for after the dinner
Getting in from NCE
T2 tram from the airport → Port Lympia in ~25 min, €1.70.[21] No taxi needed.
Where to stay
Vieux Nice from ~$160/night — walking distance to JAN. Carré d'Or for quieter boutique hotels.[24]
Friday evening
Stroll the Promenade des Anglais at sunset. Dinner at La Merenda in Vieux Nice (no phone — walk in to book the next day's table).
Optional: full day-trip Friday
Èze Village or Cap Ferrat both work as a Friday excursion — you want to arrive at Saturday's dinner pleasantly tired, not rushed.
Saturday
Stay in Nice — walk, eat light, arrive at JAN at 19:30 ready for 3+ hours
08:30
Cours Saleya flower and produce market
Provençal produce, flowers, a pissaladière slice from a stall. Tue–Sat 06:00–17:00.[10] The canonical Nice morning.
10:30
Colourful Baroque facades of Vieux Nice
2–3 h loop: Place Rossetti, Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate, Palais Lascaris.[11] JAN is on Rue Lascaris — scout the walk for tonight.
13:00
Chez Pipo — socca lunch
13 rue Bavastro, port. Wood-fired chickpea galette, €4–€8. Light enough that you arrive at JAN hungry; unmistakably Niçoise.
14:00
Promenade des Anglais
7 km UNESCO seafront walk west toward Hôtel Negresco. Free public beach sections every ~300 m — sea ~23 °C in June.[22] Pebble, not sand.
16:30
Free elevator opposite Castel Beach, 10:00–17:25 (hours unreliable).[12] 360° views over Baie des Anges. Back down by 18:15.
18:15
Aperitivo + change
Rosé at a Cours Saleya terrace or Place Rossetti gelato. Smart casual: collared shirt; dress or smart trousers — elegant but unpretentious. Walk to Rue Lascaris (~10 min from Place Masséna).
19:30

MARIA — the cheese interlude: mid-meal, the entire table crosses the street to a dedicated room named after the chef's grandmother — 91 plates of cheese, condiments, and preserves, one for each year of her life. Portrait paintings of the women in his family, a chandelier salvaged from the Paris Métro, a South African gin bar on the mezzanine.[8] Reviewers call it the evening's emotional high point. Do not skip it.

Sunday
Pick one — you can't do all of them well in a day
⚠ Monaco Grand Prix weekend: If your Saturday is June 6, 2026 — qualifying is that day, race is Sunday June 7.[19] Skip Monaco entirely both days. Every bus and train through Monaco is jammed; all Monaco hotels are sold out months ahead. Do Èze village return or Cap Ferrat instead.
Corniche view over the Mediterranean toward Monaco
Bus #82/#602 from Vauban · 30 min · €1.70/leg · Full day
Medieval hilltop in the morning before cruise buses arrive, Monaco in the afternoon as they leave.[16] The classic Riviera pairing. Use #82 or #602 — not #600, which goes to sea-level Èze-sur-Mer.[15]
Skip Monaco on June 6–7 (GP qualifying + race)
🏊
TER 5 min · €2.10 · then bus #15 · Full day (~7 h)
Fishing port, "Rue Obscure" vaulted street, sandy Plage des Marinières. Walk the Cap Ferrat coastal path to Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild (€18).[18]
Skip if you don't walk on rocky coastal paths
🏛
Antibes + Cannes
TER 25–40 min · €5.20–€7.90 · Full day
Musée Picasso at Château Grimaldi (Picasso worked here in 1946). Cap d'Antibes coastal path. Lérins Islands ferry from Cannes Quai Laubeuf, 15-min crossing.[17]
Cannes is wall-to-wall crowds in June
🍋
Menton
TER 40 min · ~€6 · Half or full day
Belle Époque pastel town at the Italian border. Cocteau Museum, citrus-tinted Old Town, Plage des Sablettes. Sit right-side on the train for sea views.[17]
