HELVETIA
Quai d'Ouchy, looking south to the Savoy Alps

Greetings from
Lausanne

— a weekend on Lac Léman, anchored on a Michelin dinner

Dear traveller — Two days is the sweet spot [66]. Day 1 belongs to the lake — Olympic Museum, lakeside lunch, the SS La Suisse paddle steamer or a Lavaux vineyard walk, then your Michelin reservation.

Day 2 is for the city — Plateforme 10 at 10 a.m., fondue in the old town, the cathedral belfry, and sunset at the Sauvabelin Tower. Stay in Ouchy for lakeside calm or Flon for nightlife and metro access [65].

Collect your free Lausanne Transport Card at check-in — it covers bus, metro, and regional trains for the whole stay [55].

— see you on the quai. ✦

Pitfalls to plan around

Pinned to the back of the postcard, before you mail it.

Museum closing days MCBA closes Mondays. mudac & Photo Elysée close Tuesdays. Olympic Museum closes Mondays — and on 24/25/31 Dec + 1 Jan. Check the day-of [3][1].
Évian as a casual hop From 2026 CGN roughly halved crossings, concentrating them around commuter hours. If Évian is the goal, confirm the live CGN timetable first [41].
The walking-city myth Lausanne sits on three hills — not an easy walking city. Combine walking with M2 + funiculars to avoid slogging uphill, especially around the cathedral [62].
Sauvabelin in bad weather The wooden tower closes in strong wind, snow, or ice; max 30 people at a time on its double-helix stair [10]. Have a Plan B if a storm rolls in.
