TL;DR. Within 30 km of Villa Crespi, the only upcoming tech event in 2026 is TEDxVerbania on Saturday 21 November in Pallanza [11]. The two real IT conferences in the radius — Ambrosetti’s Technology Forum in Stresa [6] and AUSED’s CIO Leaders Summit in Baveno [10] — both happen in spring and already ran this year (and both are invite-only anyway). For an open, walk-in tech conference you have to drive: Milan and Cernobbio are 75–85 km out, outside the radius.
Geography first
Villa Crespi sits in Orta San Giulio on Lake Orta [1]. A 30 km road radius covers the Lake Orta / lower Lake Maggiore corridor:
| Town | Road distance from Villa Crespi | In radius? |
|---|---|---|
| Omegna | ~10 km | ✓ |
| Borgomanero | ~15 km | ✓ |
| Arona | ~19 km [5] | ✓ |
| Stresa | ~23 km [2] | ✓ |
| Baveno | ~25 km [3] | ✓ |
| Verbania (Pallanza) | ~29 km [4] | ✓ (edge) |
| Novara city | ~40 km | ✗ |
| Cernobbio / Como | ~85 km | ✗ |
| Milan | ~80 km | ✗ |
Novara city is out — so the AperInnovativi cycle at Fondazione Novara Sviluppo doesn’t qualify even though it’s the same province.
IT / tech events in the radius — 2026
| # | Event | Date | Town / Venue | Type | Audience | Status (as of 28 May 2026) |

What each one actually is
- Technology Forum (Ambrosetti / TEHA Group) — the 15th edition wrapped on 22 May 2026, a week before this research. Two-day flagship for innovation strategy; 2026 agenda was agentic AI, AI Giga Factories, deep tech, nuclear innovation, future factories and European digital sovereignty [8]. Listed under “TLC, Digital e Cybersicurezza” and “Impresa” on the Italian institutional events portal [9]. Access is reserved to InnoTech Hub Service subscribers [7] — paying clients of Ambrosetti, not a public registration.
- CIO Leaders Summit (AUSED) — closed-door, by-invitation gathering of the CIOs of major Italian groups; ~80–100 CIOs plus supporting ICT vendors. Not streamed [10]. Held annually at Grand Hotel Dino, Baveno.
- TEDxVerbania — the only open-to-public, ticketed tech-adjacent event in the radius this year. 2025 edition ran 19 Dec at Centro Eventi Il Maggiore; the 2026 edition moves to Saturday 21 November at Corso Zanitello 10 in Pallanza (Villa Giulia area). Theme not yet announced; speaker call still open as of late May [11].
- Tecnologia e comunità oggi — included for completeness, but it’s a single 1-hour community talk (media-education expert Andrea Pozzi on relationships in the digital age) inside Borgomanero’s “Fare Comunità” cultural programme, not an IT conference [12]. Already past.
Why so thin
The Stresa / Baveno / Verbania strip is one of Italy’s best-equipped congress destinations on paper — the Grand Hotel Dino’s conference centre holds up to 1,200 delegates across 36 rooms [13], and Stresa’s Palazzo dei Congressi auditorium seats 713 [14], with Verbania’s Centro Eventi Il Maggiore as a third option [15]. But the venues are used as bookable lake-side stages by national organisers (Ambrosetti, AUSED, medical congresses, finance off-sites) rather than as the home of a recurring local IT-conference circuit. There is no local Linux Day, WordCamp, PyCon, DevFest or Codemotion node in VCO or Novara province in 2026 — those cluster in Milan and Turin.
The lake summer calendar from June through early September is given over to the Stresa Festival (classical music and jazz, 16 Jul – 9 Sep 2026) [16] and to cultural / food events, not to tech.
If you’d widen the radius
| Distance | Event | Date | Why mention it |
|---|---|---|---|
| ~85 km (Lake Como) | Cernobbio Forum / “Intelligence on the World, Europe and Italy”, 52nd ed. — Villa d’Este, Cernobbio | 4–6 Sep 2026 | Ambrosetti’s flagship; closest big-name conference outside 30 km but still an easy day trip [17] |
| ~80 km (Milan) | Milan tech-conference circuit (Digital Design Days, AI Festival, WMF satellite events) | year-round | Where the actual recurring IT-conference density sits |
Bottom line for the weekend traveller
If the trip is fixed around dinner at Villa Crespi and you want to bolt on a real IT conference inside the 30 km radius, plan for late November and aim at TEDxVerbania. Otherwise treat Lake Orta as the off-site you go to after a conference in Milan or Cernobbio, not the conference itself.
