Decision: Book Le Cube, L’Eau Vive’s own 150 m² cottage in the restaurant garden by the Burnot brook — it is the only lodging within true walking distance of the dining room [1] [2]. €300/night for 2, €350 for 4 [3]. Every other option sits 3–4 km away across hills or down the Meuse; expect to call a taxi after dinner [12].

Why “walking distance” is essentially one option

L’Eau Vive is at Route de Floreffe 37, 5170 Rivière (Profondeville) — riverside, on the right bank of the Meuse just south of the Floreffe bridge [1]. The Michelin Guide labels the entry “Arbre” [4], but the actual postal section is Rivière; the village of Arbre sits up on the plateau ~2.5 km to the south. Bois-de-Villers and Profondeville town are each 3–4 km away by road.

After a Pierre Résimont tasting menu with wine pairing, the only door you can reach on foot without a designated driver or taxi is Le Cube, a few metres across the garden.

Le Cube — the one true walk-back option

Two-bedroom contemporary cottage that Pierre Résimont built in the restaurant’s own garden, 150 m² across two levels, glazed entirely on the river-facing side [2] [11].

Field Detail

Price, night, 2 pax €300 [3]
Price, night, 4 pax €350 [3]

Breakfast €20/person, order day before; ✗ Tuesdays & Wednesdays [3]
Kitchen, terrace, BBQ, parking ✓ all included [2]
Walking distance to L’Eau Vive ~50 m, same property [1]

For a Saturday-evening anchor this fits perfectly: dinner Saturday → walk back through the garden → breakfast delivered Sunday morning (Tuesday/Wednesday closure is irrelevant for a weekend trip).

If Le Cube is full — short-drive alternatives

All four sit inside Profondeville municipality but need a vehicle after dinner. Ordered by distance from the restaurant.

¹ Road distance from Route de Floreffe 37. Walking routes climb the plateau (Arbre, Medissey) or follow the Meuse towpath (Profondeville).

Why Medissey is the obvious #2

Espace Medissey is run by Anne and Pierre Résimont themselves — built in 2008, named after their two children Mehdi and Issey [11]. It is wired into the restaurant’s operations: pool, hot tub and fitness room mean a slow Sunday morning after the tasting menu, and the team can usually arrange a post-dinner transfer the 4 km from Rivière. Confirm the lift at booking. The price gap vs Le Cube is small (~€260 vs €300) but you give up the in-garden walk and gain a pool [5].

Taxi from Profondeville

Two operators cover the area 24/7: Allo Taxi Namurois [12] and Hepp’Taxi [13]. A short hop within Profondeville is typically a fixed-tariff trip; book ahead for a 23:00+ return.

What to skip

  • “Hotel L’Eau Vive” in Vresse-sur-Semois. Same name, completely different establishment ~80 km south in the Semois valley — not related to the Résimont restaurant.
  • Anything in Wépion or Namur city. Plenty of accommodation, but 10–20 km from the table and you’ll spend the evening watching the meter.
  • Walking from the Arbre village B&Bs after dinner. The route climbs out of the Meuse valley on a road with no pavement; not realistic in the dark with wine on board.
