Decision
Stay on-site. L'Air du Temps runs an 11-room B&B in the same farmstead — Tripadvisor's #1 in Éghezée — and that one booking removes the only real friction (driving home after a 2-star tasting menu).[77][78]
Default Saturday: morning in Gembloux (12 min), afternoon at the Citadel of Namur + cable car (13 min back), dinner at 19:30, sleep in-house.[82][79][45]
Foodie Saturday: Domaine du Chenoy 10h30 organic-vineyard tour → Floreffe Abbey tour + abbey-beer-and-cheese tasting → dinner.[59][14]
Active Saturday: bike the Meuse RAVeL Namur→Wépion→Annevoie (28 km flat) with rental from Pro Velo Namur; shower, dinner.[26][36]
With kids: Walibi Belgium (20 min drive, new Mecalodon coaster in 2026) or the cheaper Parc Reine Fabiola on the Citadel.[41][43]
The anchor
L'Air du Temps is at Rue de la Croix Monet 2, 5310 Liernu (Éghezée), a renovated white farmstead built around a square courtyard in the Hesbaye fields between Namur and Gembloux. Two MICHELIN Stars + a Green Star in the 2026 guide.[75][74] Closed Mon & Tue, €€€€, reserve well ahead at +32 81 81 30 48.[76] Around it sit 5 ha of land, half cultivated, growing ~400 species that supply ~90% of the kitchen's plant produce[72] — so every nearby producer visit ends up being thematically linked.
Drive times from Liernu (the only metric that matters)
Liernu itself has no scheduled bus — only a TEC Flexitec on-demand stop, "Liernu-Corbeau".[84] Plan around a car or a taxi; the TEC line 822 to Namur exists but runs every 4 hours.[79]
| Destination | km | Drive | What you go for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gembloux | 11.8 | 13 min | Abbey (limited dates), Don't Go Bananas escape room, Fun Galaxy[82] |
| Namur (centre) | 16.2 | 13 min | Citadel, museums, old town, RAVeL trailhead[79] |
| Floreffe Abbey | 20.3 | 20 min | Abbey church + mill-brewery tasting[83] |
| Wavre / Walibi | 29.1 | 20 min | Major amusement park + Aqualibi[80] |
| Annevoie Gardens | 34 | 32 min | Belgium's only 18th-c. water gardens — just outside 30 km[81] |

Quirky local — within Eghezée itself
The Gros Chêne de Liernu — >1,000 years old, 14 m trunk circumference, classified Walloon heritage — stands in the same village as the restaurant. There's a Brotherhood whose 47th Chapter is on 30 May 2026.[56] The signed 7 km loop "La balade sur les terres du Gros Chêne" starts there.[38]
Explicitly out of range — skip these
Plenty of "near Namur" lists pull these in; they don't fit a 30 km radius from Liernu.
- Domaine de Chevetogne — 600-ha family domain, but ~45 km south.[53]
- Pairi Daiza — ~85 km from Namur (1 h 2 min).[54]
- Euro Space Center (Transinne, Luxembourg Province) — well outside the radius.[55]
Practical notes
- Weather: May 9–19 °C, June 12–20 °C, ~11 rainy days/month. Pack a waterproof for any garden visit.[86]
- L'Air du Temps rooms: 11 doubles, ~€210 avg incl. breakfast, vacate by 11:00; breakfast 08:30–10:00.[77]
- Transit reality: Liernu has no scheduled bus, only an on-demand Flexitec stop. Hire a car — the 4-hourly TEC line 822 to Namur won't fit a dinner schedule.[84][79]
- Citadel underground: reserve the day before — slots cap and the site explicitly refuses walk-ins.[3]
- Floreffe beer ≠ Floreffe Abbey: the abbey serves it, but Lefebvre brews it under licence in Quenast since 1983; same caveat for Maredsous (Duvel-Moortgat).[62][63]
